In April 1986, a handful of people got together to discuss the formation of a society dedicated to preserving the memory and memorabilia of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition - the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. On April 30th of that year, the 82nd anniversary of the opening day of the Fair, the first official membership meeting was held. Although starting small, membership has now grown to over 500.
The Society represents a diverse group of people. Some collect memorabilia...some are interested in digging up the facts and setting the record straight...some are interested in finding the bits and pieces that still exist...and all find it exciting!
The Society offers a number of activities and meets monthly in St. Louis.
Dues for joining are $14 per address (calendar year membership if joining between Jan 1-June 30)
or $21 per address (if joining after July 1 - dues will cover the remainder of the current year,
plus the following calendar year).
