Flea Market Directory Provides a Ready Resource

For many collectors, there is no better activity on a nice weekend then "taking in" a flea market or two. With any luck, you'll find something to add to your collections. If not, its still an enjoyable, fun time for spending a leisure Saturday or Sunday. The Flea Market Directory located on the National Association of Collectors' website at http://Collectors.Org/FM/ provides information on hundreds of the major flea markets, listed by city under state headings. There is a wide range of events included, from traditional "flea markets" to farmers markets, antique markets, court days and traders' marts.

Some sell mostly old & used items, while others ell mostly new merchandise and most have a combination of both. Some are small with 20-30 vendors while others have hundreds, even a few with thousands of vendors. Many are held outside, some are completely inside, and some are both inside/outside markets. Some markets are "events" which are held annually or semi-annually while others are conducted monthly, or even every weekend.

Although a few flea markets charge nominal fees for admittance or parking, many are free and provide excellent hours of enjoyment browsing through the merchandise, whether or not you buy their wares. Most markets provide opportunities to buy useful, practical items, new or used, many offer fresh produce and most do have vendors with antiques and collectibles, often at bargain prices. Flea markets are fun...and addictive!

The Collectors.Org Flea Market Directory provides information on times of operation, and usually indicate the number of vendors or dealers and types of merchandise they are likely to be offering. Each flea market also feature a current weather forecast for that location. All flea markets also include contact information. If you are traveling a distance, we recommend you contact the flea market first to make sure it is still scheduled or operational.

If you know of flea markets which are not represented on the Flea Market Directory, please send contact information to: info@collectors.org or simply have the flea market manager fill out the brief information form on the directory itself.
