New eNews Electronic Newsletter on Collector Conventions

Some time ago, at the request of a number of Collecting Clubs eNews subscribers, we discussed producing a new free eNews electronic newsletter focused just on collecting clubs' conventions, targeted to the convention chairpersons who plan, promote, finance and conduct these conventions. Please send us the e-mail addresses of those club members responsible for the annual convention in your club: E-mail info@collectors.org We will add them to the list - current chairpersons, designated chairs for future conventions, and those who have chaired conventions for your club or society in the past who can share their experiences.

Typically, the annual convention is the most important event on a club's or society's calendar. Here at Collectors.Org we have attended and are otherwise familiar with dozens of collecting club conventions. They are all slightly different from one another, having different goals and purposes. There are some areas that are very typical about most of them...and most of them have something just a little different from the rest. (There are highlights (and there are "lowlights").

Some clubs desire help and advise on how they can improve their conventions. Other clubs have successful components which should be shared with fellow collecting clubs.

This eNews will be very issue-oriented; and, hopefully very interactive with readers reacting to the various features and issues when presented.

We urge all collecting clubs who conduct conventions to send us a list of appropriate e-mail addresses for those members who have convention involvement. Remember, this can be your upcoming conventions, be it later this year, next year, or beyond...and those who have worked on your conventions in the past. Their experiences and contributions will be invaluable.

ACC will be developing an ongoing "resource library" on collecting club conventions and all the various components of a convention. Conventions take a sizeable slice out of the annual club budget...or may be a major money-maker for the club. They take a lot of membership manpower...but are the greatest events for building membership strengths and friendships. In three words, Conventions Are Important! We hope you will find this new service of the Association of Collecting Clubs to be a major benefit to your club, association or society. With your help and contributions it can become an important resource for all of us. 200204
