Promoting Your Annual Convention -- Before...and After

We are beginning the season for many collecting clubs' & societies' annual conventions. The summer months seem to be a popular time for collectors and their families to gather for these much anticipated events. Even if your event is a "members only" convention, it offers opportunities for promoting your club and for recruiting new members into your group. Let us help you.

We have a new directory on the Association of Collecting Clubs' website, http://collectors.org specifically for listing information on Collecting Clubs' Conventions. If you have an auction or a show (bourse) connected with your convention which is open to the public, these portions of your convention can also be listed on the Specialty Auction listing and on the Show Calendar. We will also be promoting collecting club conventions in this Collecting Clubs eNews newsletter which reaches thousands of leaders of collecting clubs. Usually we promote the convention as soon as it is announced, and then again a week or two before the convention.

In addition, have one of your members write up a report on the convention, the highlights, what happened, special awards, presentations and speakers, new officers or other board business. Promoting your convention AFTER it is over is still good publicity and just another way to recruit new members by displaying to them how active and "fun" your club can be.
