Convention Survey

The Association of Collecting Clubs (ACC) has received requests from many collecting clubs for suggestions or assistance with their annual conventions. For most it is their largest single activity of the year.

During the fall of 2003, several dozen clubs which conduct annual conventions were invited to participate in a comprehensive club survey. Nearly 40 clubs participated. Participating clubs were informed that none of the statistical data provided in the survey would be used as "club specific" - only in general terms as analyzed through tabulation.

Obviously, for most clubs, there are elements and circumstances which make their event slightly different from everyone else's - but there are many more similarities between the conventions. Size, of course is relevant. We have surveys on conventions with less than 100 participants, to a couple with a thousand or more attendees. ACC wishes to thank the participating clubs in this survey and sincerely hope the report will be helpful for those convention chairmen planning convention events in the future.
